Off the Grid serves delicious handmade food with local and international flavor, sustainably sourced and served in a cheery atmosphere. We make our own sodas, juices and smoothies and use locally roasted coffee and 100% organic tea. The cafe has indoor seating as well as seating out back by the Thornton River.
We have a small-scale farm on site where we grow some of our produce and our hens and ducks provide our eggs. Many of our sources are local and organic and all our meats come from Whiffletree Farm and J&L Green Farm, where the farmers practice sustainable, healthy and humane pasture-raising. Some bread is made onsite but the french bread and special artisan rolls are made by the fabulous Baguette Republic out of Sterling, VA.
We work hard on sustainability at OTG and are reaching for goals of net-zero and zero-waste. Our electricity is produced on site by a large ground-mount solar array in the back field. We offer free level 2 charging for electric vehicles. Our kitchen scraps are either composted or fed to the chickens and packaging is either composted or recycled. We try to find the greenest solutions for take-out packaging and will begin offering refillable containers for some items in the near future.
